What is Salvation?
Th,e Bible says about Jesus that “salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).
No matter how good we try to be, we simply can never be good enough for a perfect God. Therefore, we need an advocate… someone who will stand in our place and take the punishment of sin for us. Jesus is that advocate. He stood in our place 2000 years ago and took the punishment for your sins and mine. All we need to do is admit we are sinners and in need of a savior. Then call upon Jesus to save us. He will!
Why Christianity and not some other religion in order to get to heaven? Well, all other religions demand works of some kind. But can any good works we do really outweigh all the bad things we do? Think about it. Not only do we act badly many times, but we think bad thoughts… a lot! There is no way that our good actions will outweigh the enormous amount of badness in us. Every single sin will be accounted for in the end.
I don’t know about you, but I would rather have Jesus standing at my side when I come to judgement, then to go it alone before a holy God!
